Inter-Crosse

Inter-Crosse is the newest form of the game. Participants use a molded plastic stick and a soft, air-filled ball. The game is easy to play, adaptable to many environments, and participants quickly learn the fundamental Lacrosse skills of scooping, carrying, passing, and catching the ball.

Inter-Crosse is an ideal activity and game for the educational and recreational systems. As a novel activity, Inter-crosse is a fun, co-educational, low risk activity based on the principles of Fair Play and the founding philosophy of Lacrosse "STRONG BODY - STRONG MIND - STRONG SPIRIT". The game is easy to learn with simple, basic rules. Inter-crosse is great for fitness and eye-hand coordination, no protective equipment is required (except for the goalie), there is no stick or body contact and the game can be played indoors or out.

The formal competitive version of Inter-Lacrosse is a fast growing international sport. The Federation Internationale d'Inter-Crosse holds international competitions on an annual basis. Since its inception in 1982 the FIIC has grown at a remarkable rate. Today there are more than 45 member respondent countries involved in the FIIC.

INTER-CROSSE EQUIPMENT LOAN PROGRAM/SKILLS CLINICS

The MLA has a very successful inter-crosse equipment loan program designed to assist those schools in Manitoba who may not have their own equipment. Inter-crosse sticks and balls can be loaned from the MLA for a minimal cost, schools are responsible for covering the cost of shipping (usually via bus). This equipment can be loaned up to a maximum of one month and is available on a first come first serve basis.

In addition to the equipment loan program, schools who are interested in having a clinician come to their school to introduce inter-crosse can contact the MLA office.

For further information about inter-crosse and our equipment loan program/skills clinics please contact the MLA at 925-5684 or e-mail lacrosse@sportmanitoba.ca
