COACHING

Online Coaching Program

The Canadian Lacrosse Association launched their online coaching program in 2009.  Two provinces, British Columbia Lacrosse Association and Nova Scotia Lacrosse piloted this program in 2009.

Manitoba Lacrosse is instituting the online coaching program in 2010.  This program will allow coaches to login and complete theirpre-clinic assessment, search and register for nearby coaching clinics and complete their evaluation workbook, all online.

The certification process will now proceed as follows:

  2. Coach completes their pre-clinic assessment online;
  3. Coach registers for a clinic online;
  4. Coach attends clinic;
  5. Clinic facilitator goes online and checks off the coaches as having attended the clinic;
  6. Coach is now able to complete their workbook online (for applicable courses);
  7. Coach submits their workbook online to the CLA (for applicable courses);
  8. CLA staff member marks the workbook (for applicable courses);
  9. CLA staff member sends workbook evaluation form to the coach (for applicable courses);
  10. CLA staff member notifies the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) that coach has passed his/her workbook;
  11. Coach receives CAC # from CAC;
  12. Coach registers for online ethics test (link found on the CLA online program site).

OFFICIALS

The Canadian Lacrosse Association has developed a National Officiating Certification Program (NOCP) for implementation by each Provincial Association. The NOCP is a comprehensive system of theoretical, technical and practical information which is intended to provide the basic ingredients to officiate lacrosse.

The certification program consists of a continuous effort to educate and upgrade officials through instruction, observation and evaluation. The goals of the program are to recruit new officials, develop the abilities of existing officials and to standardize the methods and techniques of officiating.

The Manitoba Lacrosse Association delivers officials certification programs for Box (Level 1, 2 and Level 3-5), Men’s Field (Level 1- 5) and Women’s Field (Level 1). Clinics are held each year before the season begins.

For information on the CLA NOCP please check out the Canadian Lacrosse Association web site: www.lacrosse.ca Lacrosse Sectors – Officiating and for information on becoming a certified lacrosse official in Manitoba please contact the MLA office at 204-925-5684.
